Friday 26th April 2013 - Well after the Epic day of yesterday folks things are getting back to normal, we have a turn in the wind again so back from the south which is messing up a lot of the conditions again. But there are still a few spots that are turning on early on . Pick of the bunch today is Tattado-hamma Izu with some nice clean 2-4ft sets breaking. Kanagawa looking small and Chiba a real mixed bunch. We will see the start of a 3day weekend today so expect things to be busy out there on the roads. Wave wise Saturday morning looks to be the best of the conditions with the wind being off-shore is most spots but with a west swell things will not be to big in the wave department. looks like it's going to be a weekend of SUP riding and fishing. Enjoy
Wednesday 24th April 2013 - Back to the southerly's folks, meaning we have some strong winds blowing hard from the south bringing that warm weather with it, the only problem is that it really messes with the surf a lot! Basically most places in Chiba and Kanagawa are going to be hard on-shore and junk waves, the only places that work in this are those few breaks that are set up to work in this which is Taito and Chikura or down the bottom of Izu. But then we dont see to much swell getting into thee places as the swell is being driven North by the wind. You will always get the old die hards out there though who will pick the best of the day;s conditions and probably have a blast while 90% of other people give it a miss. Get out there and enjoy and bee one of them.

Tuesday 23rd April 2013 - Good morning to one and all out there today on what is another fine day here in Japan. The sky is blue and we still have a small amount of swell around at some of the breaks out there in Chiba. Swell is in the 2ft range which means waves are around shoulder high with the occasional freak set at over head. Look to get out there early and enjoy the conditions with no wind. We have a 3 day weekend this week as well so expect things to be getting busy on the roads the following weekend is going to be Golden week which is even busier and from then on it turns into madness heading out to the coast as the summer kicks in really fast. Any how back to today , get out there and enjoy some cool ocean water with a nice warm sun on your face. Cheers
Monday 22nd April 2013 - Stunner of a morning out there folks, wish we could still be out at the coast really!! Check the Yesterday's report for the Epic Afternoon conditions we had out at Malibu Break in Chiba. But back to today things are what we would call perfect, we have nice solid 2-4ft swell coming in to most breaks which is producing head to occasional head and a half breaking waves, a perfect light off-shore wind and perfect Blue sky with the sun shinning hard. What more could you ask for. This is going on at almost all breaks but the pick of the crop today must be Kamogawa with it's perfect blue water to go with it. If you are able to get out there and enjoy it today do so, because it really does not get batter than this. !!
Sunday 21st April 2013 - Well folks what a weekend we just had! Cold Wet and PUMPING! Epic surf! We have just had a day with what we can only call Typhoon style conditions. A perfect 2.5m SE swell hit with a prefect NW wind and lit up the breaks of Hebara Beach , Kusoshta and then as the storm came up the country the world class break of Malibu turned on from 2.00pm and gave us and the boys out a real treat massive sometimes double over head sets walling up to perfection over the reef. With quality waves at many breaks the numbers were small that were out as well which made it even more fun. This one will go down as an Epic weekend.
Friday 19th April 2013 - Brr, the cold front we were talking about yesterday has come down from Hokkaido and bought the chill with it too. Some places up in the mountains will even see some snow over night tonight. Feeling is though that it will be the last cold one of the year before the warm stuff takes hold. The good thing is its bough a little bit of swell with it folks. A lot of breaks a;; over the SIJ area are at 2-4ft some breaking better than others. We are also in for an up and down weekend as well Sunday looks like rain but with it we may get some swell as well. Fingers crossed any how. Expect it to start getting busy though out in the water as you can start getting in the water as soon as 5.00am now and its going to be 4,30am not to far away. Remember the early bird often gets the worm eh. Hope to see you out there this weekend if you have the time eh.
Thursday 18th April 2013 - Ground hog day out here folks today!everywhere still not to much in the way of solid surf, but there are the odd place or two if you look hard enough that will get you a ride or two, best place from the cams today is North Chiba up in Ioka Notehama etc. South is looking fairly flat. The temps are going to drop a lot today as well as we expect a cold air mass to come down from Hokkaido so make sure you wrap up warm. The weekend is back to a mixed bag as we now have rain on Sunday and Sun on Saturday so pic and chose how you see fit if you are thinking of heading out.
Tuesday 16th April 2013 - Well things on the wind side have some what calmed down agai folks, which is good to see but now we are looking at an ocean that is flat yet again! Seems to be a 7 day routine thus far this year. Fast moving low pressure system brings strong winds then half a day of junky kind of swell followed by a few days of the flat's. This looks to continue possibly into this weekend again as well, argh i will here some of you cry. Dont worry to much though things will brighten up by Golden week we hope on the wave front at least. The real trick is this time of year hunt the waves down , which means putting rubber to the road. Get out there today and enjoy the water if you can there are lots of things to do , like SUP riding and Kyaking etc.
Monday 15th April 2013 - Morning folks, this morning is looking really really windy yet again, seems the past few weekend's have been this way. The wind picked up in strength yesterday morning and has not really stopped blowing, it's hard from the south though so it is bringing warm weather with it. It does mean that most break's though are blown out, those few spots that do work well on this wind though are small as most of the swell is driving in the same direction. We see this pattern every year until around Golden week when things finally switch in the Pacific and Japan starts to have the swell pulse towards it. Great day in Tokyo , get outside to a park and enjoy it if you can.
Friday 12th April 2013 - Well folks the sun is out yet again and the air temp's are getting warmer every day too which we have no complaints about what so ever. The swell today is also not epic but there are a few waves on offer to be ridden by the folks that are out and about. Pretty much same as yesterday though Kanagawa looking good as is the bottom half of Chiba . More size down in Izu with that magic Blue water they have!! The weekend is going to be a cracker for sure with a high of 16 on Saturday and 22 on Sunday. there will also be light winds and a little bit of swell so a perfect time for the beginners Get out there and enjoy it if you can.
Thursday 11th April 2013 - Bit of a ground hog day out there today folks wave wise not to much going on again, most of the action is down in the Kanagawa area but even then they only have the odd chest high set breaking. Tides will be big again today and early on they will be high and fat. Hunt out those shallow breaks to increase your chance of getting some of the action. The sun seems to have also gone away today with the N to W wind around meaning Cold Brr . The good news though is the weekend is lining up to be a nice warm sunny one , which i know for many people they have been looking forward to a good one like this for a long time. Enjoy your day what ever you get up too.
Wednesday 10th April 2013 - This morning folks we have seen a drastic drop in the size of swell and basically it's one of those freak days where Kanagawa really has the most size and most options when it comes to waves. Top half of Chiba is wind effected and small , middle Chiba small, Bottom half in some special places the odd breaking wave, Izu though is looking better with a few good ones coming through. The fishermen will be happy that things have finally calmed down so they can get back out and catch a few fish. Things are still warm with sunny sky's which is great to see. Most kids have started back at school as well so things will be quiet out and about over the next few weeks until we hit Golden week at the end of the month. Get out there and enjoy some sun and sand under your feet folks if you can. It make's you feel alive.
Tuesday 9th April 2013 - Stunner of a morning out there folks today, weather is blue sky and warm it defiantly is a Spring Morning. The ocean is also playing nice with still some small swell left over from our rather large storm that pushed through last weekend. Most places are getting much smaller but things are in the 2-4ft range at most breaks, still some pretty big tides around though so expect things to change a lot as the day goes on. The beach breaks will be working the best you will just have to go bank hunting. Rest of the week is looking good as well with even the weekend lined up to be a stunner thus far with highs going into the low 20's. Seems like the storm of last weekend blew away the last part of winter and has bought spring on with vengeance. Yippee.
Monday 8th April 2013 - As we said late last night we have woken up today to almost the exact opposite as we went to bed. A stiff off-shore wind and macking sets up and down the coast line! The storm has moved North and we are now seeing the backside of the storm , sets are rolling in from Izu through to Ibaraki well over the 8ft mark! you are still going to have to look around a lot to find the right break to be able to get a good session but for those of us who know Chiba Secret's it will be an Epic Day! Hebara is working well as it is a little less exsposed than other breaks with a good pack out on the main peak. The sun is out as well so it will be a great day, Swell around for most part of the next week so the start of April is looking good! Surf season is here... Get out there.
Sunday 7th April 2013 - a stormy one for sure.
Friday 5th April 2013 - This morning has seen only a slight drop in size from yesterday as the big back swell from the storm up north continues to hit the Ibaraki and Chiba Coastline's. It is a bit messy but as long as you look in the right place you will find clean 2-4ft perfection breaking this morning. There is a lot of north in the swell meaning those breaks that work best in this will be doing well. Good tide movement yet again as well which will add to the quality of the waves for sure. The weather is also still nice and it is warm but looking ahead into the weekend things may take a turn for the worse as rain is predicted. There should still be some swell around but the winds may start coming outta the south a bit more so look to get the early morning sessions in for the best quality.
Thursday 4th April 2013 - Well this morning is an absolute stunner folks it really does not get much better than this, the storm of the past 2 days has blow through and we were greated with an amazing sunrise followed by blue sky and warm weather perfect off-shore winds and stunning back swell from our little monster storm that is now sitting up above Ibaraki. This is a perfect day in Chiba! many of the reef's are pumping early on and the beach breaks are heavy and big but defiantly rip-able. Sets rolling in at Hebara at time of writing were head and a half with double over head sets every once in a while. Kanagawa has some small waves as well which will 100% keep the mob happy. We reckon Maruki with the North in the swell will be super sick today so expect so stunning pics from there later on. All in all it's going to be a perfect day for surfing here in Japan. Get out there if you can.
April 3rd 2013 - A similar start to the day as we had yesterday folks the rain is still falling and it's pretty chilly. But there is good news the winds have calmed down a lot already and some have switched to off-shore as predicted meaning we have some pretty nice groomed lines coming in. Although we think it is due to get a lot bigger as the day goes on. The afternoon session is looking outstanding for the big wave spots up and down the coast. At time of writing Izu was pumping Kanagawa has a few waves on the beaches but the high tide is not helping. Chiba is maxing out in many places. We have saved uploading images this morning as we will no doubt get better ones later in the day that actually do the conditions Justice so check back with us then. Congratulations goes out to Adriano De souza for his win at Bells beach Yesterday in stunning conditions, it's great to see other guys topple the giants.
April 2nd 2013 - Good morning on what is going to be a cold and wet one for sure. We have the big low out of the coast of Kanagawa which is going to be joined by a rather large depression down south that will bring heavy rain and wind over the next 24hrs, it will also bring storm conditions to most seas in the SIJ area, but the good news is that come Wednesday afternoon things should have cleared up to perfection with strong off-shore winds and some of the Big Reef waves in and around the SIJ area should be pumping with quality waves. It's also final's day at Bell's beach so a good day to be inside watching all the action on the computer screen. Wrap and warm if you head outside. And get all your gear ready is the go for today!! the next 2 weeks there looks to be a stack of swell on the way !!! Bring it on ! We hope to see you out there.
April 1st 2013 - Well a new month then and we are starting it with blue sky and a nice little east swell, the beaches out in Chiba again are looking good with some fun 1-3ft surf rolling in, this is all coupled with some big tides so it will be great. There is also good news for later on in the week, the big North low that has given us this swell is going to move south and build in size then do a U-turn Tuesday and head back up the coast, then by Wednesday we should have big big pumping swell some time on Wednesday. In Japan a lot of people say April is the true start of spring and the Surf season, lets see what happens! We hope to see you out there.
