Wednesday 31st October 2013- Happy Halloween to one and all out there today. We will be on the hunt for those waves being ridden in Fancy Dress Costumes today. It is a real Cracker of a day out there though folks with an amazing Sunrise one of the best this year to be honest. It is a lot colder over night now though and Autum is here in full swing. The rest of this week is looking nice though as we head into the long weekend highs in the low 20's etc. Swell wise though things are going to be a bit small with on 1-3ft conditions almost everywhere. What you see out there today is what you are going to get almost all week. Typhoon 29 is heading towards the Philippians but the super long range seems tho think Typhoon 30 may not be far behind it. Enjoy Halloween for sure it's going to be a little bit spooky The Triple Crown Series in Hawaii is going to get under way soon but the HIC Pro is on right now , this determines the extras that can get in for the event. Well worth a watch.http://vanstriplecrownofsurfing.com/vtcs13/news-article/vans-presents-the-hic-pro

Tuesday 29th October 2013- Bit of a cold and grey start to the morning out there folks but it is due to warm up a bit through the day and we will see the sunshine come out again as well. But for the first time in about 6 weeks we are finally going to tell you that we have very little swell rolling in today and in many places things are no more than 1ft in size. We have had such an amazing year for Typhoons and massive swells everyone feels truly blessed. Im sure the fishermen are more than happy they can get back into the water and start catching fish again. The summer heat has 100% going as well and most folks are now back in a full suit 2/3mm seems to be the best at the moment. The air temps are defiantly colder than the ocean temps so as long as its a nice day out you will still have fun in a short leg long arm. Looking ahead not much swell on the radar for the next few days , but fingers crossed we might see one more big storm from the Pacific before the official end of the 2013 Typhoon season. Have a great day and make sure to check out all the pictures on SIJ Facebook page.

Monday 27th October 2013- Good morning to one and all. Wow what a weekend that was , it will for sure go down in the history books as one of the Top Big wave Typhoon weekends in the past 10 years. Saturday we saw the reefs at Kanagawa go ballistic with 15 to 18ft faced waves breaking on some of the reefs. The Sunday once the Typhoons had passed we saw the beach and reef breaks of Chiba go nuts. Kamogawa being the stand out place Maruki reef especially. For photos and more information make sure you check out the Surfing in Japan facebook page. Today though we have some stunning clear sky's and a perfect calm day. Lots of swell still to be had if you are willing to make the run up and into Ibaraki, waves in the double over head range and many of the reef breaks working to perfection. The long distance radar is showing one more possible Typhoon 29 forming , but tracking towards Taiwan Next few days will show where she heads. Fingers crossed for a bit more action up our way please. All in all though we have to say we were totally stoked.

Tuesday 22nd October 2013- Good morning to one and all on this fun looking Tuesday morning. Weather is still holding out folks but we may be in for some rain later in the day. As you can see for the image above the main News is the Typhoon 27 *Fransisco has been joined by a friend Typhoon 28 Leikima and the Pacific ocean is about to go nuts. Its going to be one hell of a week for sure. Predictions are that from late today we should see a solid 15 sec period South swell move in and dominate through into Thursday. From which point on its any ones guess as things can change so much when you are dealing with Typhoons. Today though if your looking Kamogawa in Chiba looks to be one of the best breaks on the coast with solid 6ft surf rolling in and little wind. Remember the best thing you can do is be mobile and be ready to go. Get out there and enjoy it if you can this will be one of the best weeks of the year for sure. Expect the a few pros to be flying in to town for this one as its only a hop and skip away from Hawaii which season starts from the end of this month.

Monday 21st October 2013- Well what a weekend folks, some serious surf was coming in here in Chiba , Saturday was the pick of the days with near flawless conditions down at Maruki in Kamogawa. The Sunday the rain and cold turned up and it was bitterly cold. A real shock for a lot of the surfers who came unprepared Almost all breaks in Chiba were closed out except Malibu and a few other places most of the day. Then as evening came in the wind dropped as expected nd the waves turned on. A few of the crew were out there in the water and they scored big time. A the pics above show and if you follow our FaceBook you will see that as well. Today though is even better out there folks with blue skys and a 10 degree shift in the temps. We also have quality 6ft+ surf rolling into a lot of the east facing breaks of Chiba. In other news Typhoon 27 Francisco is heading our way and pushing monster swell in front of here. Keep your eyes peeled as this one may be the perfect Surfers storm. Get out there and enjoy it if you can folks its going to be good.

Friday 18th October 2013- Morning folks and finally we can say the super sick swell of Typhoon 26 has gone down to what most folks will say is a manageable level across all parts of the SIJ area. However there is still tons of great surf in and around Chiba and Ibaraki. Hebera and Kamogawa as well as Ioka were highlight breaks at time of writing with 3-4ft surf rolling in. Nice clean off shores were also helping the waves stand up perfectly This pattern looks to be staying with us through the weekend as well before we will see early next week the swell from Typhoon 27 hit us (Fransisco) The Pacific ocean we love you the non-stop swell pumping machine. Things have cooled down a lot though this week and a wet suit is 1100% a must now out in the water. Hokkaido had its first snow of the season as well which is a record for them. Change is on the way so get out there and grab this typhoon swell well its around because before we no it ,it will all be over. Enjoy your day and weekend folks its going to be a fun one for sure.

In other News the RIP CURL Peniche Portugal Congratulations to Kai Otton for winning this year.

Thursday 17th October 2013- Well folks as you can see from the pictures above , last night from 3.00pm on-wards and this morning is nothing short of EPIC we have pumping back swell coming in too all SIJ beach and reef breaks in the 6-8ft range with light variable winds and in most places not a cloud in the sky. Its going to be a day full of barrels and broken boards in my eyes. We have to remember those people though who were affected badly by the storm and our thoughts and prayers are with them today as the clean up begins. Japan has been battered by these storms for 100's of years now and as a country are very prepared but to have a 0 damage loss is almost impossible with the power these storms produce. Waves yesterday were about as big and clean as the get some people say 50 ft plus sets were observed at the big wave breaks. Any way if you are out there today you will not have to hunt around much enjoy the Bali style perfection and surf until your arms fall off. Send us pictures if you grab any and we talk to you all tomorrow Enjoy.

Wednesday 16th October 2013- TYPHOON 26 *WIPHA is the upon as we are typing this morning, a once in 10 year Typhoon that has slowly ground its way up the coast of Japan and will continue to do so all day long. Yesterday was a flawless day of perfection down in Kanagawa with 6-8ft sets poring in all day long. From 6.00pm last night though we have been dealing with heavy rain and now 6.00am strong winds. We also have 35-45 ft seas out there folks as well with winds over 100km Ph not a place you want to be surfing. But the speed of the typhoon is now up in the 65km a hour range which means by 6.00pm tonight it will be up and around the Hokkaido area leaving us down south with a perfect afternoon of great weather and probably perfect surf yet again. It will drop quickly from 10ft plus down to a manageable 6-8ft but it will still be a stunner of an afternoon for sure. Get out there and get some if you can.

Tuesday 15th October 2013- Good morning folks , we are back after a long weekend, It was a stunner board shorts and lots of swell for one and all especially last night when the reefs of Chiba turned on big time. But this morning all the action is coming from Typhoon Number 25 Nari , she is pushing some serious swell out in front of her, to the tune of 20ft plus at a 16 second period. This morning Kanagawa is on fire with waves everywhere and its just going to keep getting bigger and bigger. The wind will gain in strength as well though and by end of day it will be blowing big time. Wednesday looks insane with 70knot plus winds and 40-50ft seas. If you are out hunting be careful. Thursday things seem to get a bit more manageable and the winds of course go off shore. If anything it's going to be one very very interesting week out there folks. Some of the big wave chargers from the planet have flown in for this action as many of the super big break points will start working with this swell. Photos should be sick. Enjoy your day.

Friday 11th October 2013- Well we had some surprise rain over night last night after that amazing day we yesterday We also have a little bit of low cloud hanging around this morning as well. This should clear up later on in the day. Wave wise things are looking good out there in Chiba with 2-3ft swell still but other spots Kanagawa ,Izu are now looking small. Not much wind early on which means we have glassy conditions, but this is going to change as the day goes on the strong southerly's are going to kick in big time. So getting out there early today is the key. Looking ahead into the 3 day weekend Saturday morning will start of windy and from the south but then by the evening we should be left with perfect off-shore winds for the rest of the weekend everywhere in Chiba with a small swell, so lots of fun waves to be had weather will be in the high 20's and the sun will be shinning . Its going to be great. Get out there and have fun if you can this is one of the last 3 day weekends before the real Autumn weather kicks in here in Japan.

Thursday 10th October 2013- Morning to one and all out there in the surfing world, we have said good by to Typhoon number 24 and are left with some perfect clean light wind conditions today in many many spots , Highlights though are defiantly Chiba with many reef breaks working and the beach breaks on fire up north. At time of writing Hebera looked clean and punchy with waves across the whole area. Kamogawa very clean with big thick lines hitting all peaks. Even Kanagawa today had some nice broken swell coming in which makes the 1000's that live down there to be able to surf daily before work very very happy. Weekend is looking good with nice weather and swell still around. Have a great day whatever yuou get up to folks.

Wednesday 9th October 2013- Well the run of almost perfect swell has come to an end today folks for many. Today we see Typhoon number 24 DANAS tear up the Nihon Kai (Japan Sea) in less than a 12 hour period. This is going to bring strong southerly winds to the Pacific side with large stormy seas. It is also bringing warm air so expect it to be warm and muggy out there folks. It will create some Ace conditions for our neighbors over there in Korea though and a few secret breaks on the Japan Sea Side. Not to worry though we have more action starting to build down south as we speak and it looks like 3 storm cells will join to create one very large depression which again will start to push swell our way later in the week. Enjoy the break while you can is our call.

Tuesday 8th October 2013- Good morning to one and all , and the good news of today is that the swell is back and its big!!! One more band of mid to long period E to SE swell in the solid 4-6ft range. Kanagawa is working really well again as is Kamogawa and many other breaks up and down the Chiba coast line. Izu has some smaller but perfectly shaped waves with some tube rides going down as well. The weather is going to get really warm as well with highs in the city of 28+. Blue sky and still the water is warm so warm in fact that in Ibaraki where the over night temps droped we now have FOG on the coast. A sure sign that Autumn is on its way folks , so my advice get out there right now and enjoy it while you can. Yesterday the winds picked up and there was not much swell but we had news reports in that the early morning sessions were TOP Notch! Any way folks as you all know check out our FaceBook pages for more info and Epic photos from Surfing In Japan. The swell has not stopped for 3 weeks now long may it keep coming.

Monday 7th October 2013- Morning to one and all after a very very pumping weekend for some. Kamogawa was the best we have seen it for a while folks there were some soilid 6-8ft faced waves coming in and breaking on almost perfect sand bars. Lots of tube riding was had as well as some charging walls. Kanagawa also got it good on Sunday with most of the reef breaks working well. Most of the size was from the Typhoon down south this mixed in with the solid east swell we had made for a perfect broken swell. We were lucky enough on Suunday to get some super fun charging walls right out front of HQ at Malibu on the SUP's as well which crowned a perfect weekend. This morning we are looking at very full tides again but the shallow beach breaks are working well already and then look for the reefs to work soon after. Similar swell to Saturday today meaning sets coming through every 10 mins or so.Bit cooler today though with many places having some light rain to deal with. As you can see from todays photos though it was a sick sick weekend. Fingers crossed for this one.

Friday 4th October 2013- A big drop in the temps out there today folks a real Autum feel to the weather for sure, no Boardies anymore for most folks. Its back into the short leg long arm or Gul wet suits We have a stiff northerly wind blowing today and a change in the swell as well. so everywhere is actually a little bit funky to be honest and it will stay that way for most of the day until mother nature sorts herself out , which by tomorrow she seems she will have done exactly that. Best places at time of writing by the looks of it were Ioka up North and then Kamogawa down south which as we know is somewhat North Wind Protected. After all the huge swells of late though im sure a lot of folks will be happy that they are back at work or able to relax and look out the window saying ill give today a miss and go again tomorrow. Have a great day whatever your doing.

Thursday 3rd October 2013- Well Typhoon 22 was just a quick flash in the pan folks but it was one of the best surf days Kamogawa had seen in Years perfect huge waves coming into the bay there all day long some amazing rides going down as well. Now we are looking at the big Typhoon 23 down south which is going to create a North pulse finger up here in Chiba over the next few days. The period for us is going to get a lot shorter down into the 9s etc and wind could become an issue but there will be a lot of waves on offer so frustration levels in the water will be low. Today things look fun out there a little bit wonky yes but if the wind kicks in like its supposed to it should all clean up by lunch. Just one more great day to be out and in the water. Have a good day if you are.

Tuesday 1st October 2013- Well folks we are positively racing through the year here October 1st WOW what happened to the time. Starting the month of with a few grey sky's and some rain in places air temps are still nice and warm however with highs in the mid 20's. Wave wise like yesterday we have some great easterly swells pushing in and Chiba is super clean at many breaks with constant 4ft sets rolling in. Stand out breaks this morning are , Kamogawa and Hebera as well as Ioka but if you want some serious size many of the exposed beach breaks are cranking with no one out. Weather will clear up tomorrow but the weekend is looking a mixed bag this is because the Pacific has so many storm front right now they are finding it hard to predict what will happen and when. Only tie will tell. One thing is for sure we have swell right to the horizon get out there and get some.
