(All photos are Located using GPS coordinates for pin point accuracy) General Break Information Popular as a long board wave, it does have its day and the local surf shop owner has a picture of him riding a very nice wave at double over head. It is tucked in to the SW corner of Chikura Bay and it is the only beach in South Chiba that blows offshore in a South West wind. It needs some East in the swell to get decent waves. Board rental and lessons are available and are reasonably priced, long, short or boogie boards. Parking is limited but free, new toilet block and a supermarket a couple of hundred meters behind the beach. Mostly it is a sandy bottom. Possibly after a large typhoon the underlying rock reef may become exposed. Notes: Chikura has a fireworks festival every year in the summer, hundreds of fireworks from a pontoon just off the beach, surf all day, have a BBQ and in the evening kick back in your deck chair for 2 hrs of entertainment.
