General Break Information
South from Taito and Izumi and North of Hebara. Onjuku beach is party central in summer with easy access and lots of accommodation the beach gets packed in summer.  Aug 22 2010 and the beach must have had 5000+ people - looked like the circus was in town what with everyone and all their tents.
Its a beautiful wide semi circle beach with very flat contours so even the smallest swells break. Over head high and it starts closing out however around this size it can be real fun and last summer (2009) a sand bank at the southern end worked well for over 2 months.
If you wanna go on a beach date / picnic and don't want to hassle with the crowds in Shonan then this is a good option, especially as you can get in a surf while your friends watch from under the beach umbrella.
Longboards, Shortboards, Funboards, Stand UP Paddle Boards, Swimming, Bodysurfing - you'll see it all at Onjuku. Summer time sees a section of the beach closed off for swimming only.
Showers and toilets at each end of the beach, road parking, or paid carparks

Onjuku beach break names: Iwa Wada; Uchi Naka; Onjuku Main

Around from the North East Fishing port are a couple of small beachs that are uncrowded and hold a bit more size. The first of them you can jump off the tetrapods at the fishing port and paddle while the second you drive inland and about 3 km from Onjuku you will see a small road heading towards the beach. Park at the road entrance and walk down.
Access: The express train from Tokyo Station stops at Onjuku and this is probably easier than driving, for a day trip. 100m walk from the station to the beach.
Round trip from Tokyo 140km
